...Those Summer Nights

Last night we spent the evening out on our deck.
Shane built it last year, all by himself (such a handy guy) and its so fun! It's such a beautiful place to sit with family and watch the sunset!

Creepy Crawlies?!

Sitting quietly in the living room with Shane, I was absorbed in my book and the boys were off playing on their own. (One of the rare times this happens.)

Suddenly here comes Sean yanking and pulling at me saying "Ew! Ew!"

I was worried, this summer seems to be the "Summer of Bugs, Spiders and Whatnot. I know, I know, they ALL are, but I've seemed to notice more creepies crawling through my house this year.

Entering the kitchen I see Seth squatting on the floor pointing underneath the table, inseistently saying "Ew!" He was pointing to this teeny tiny frog! It was sitting so still and looked rather cute!
After snapping few pictures I decided to find a way to get this little frog outside to his freedom before he found his way under my couch! (Or worse, in my BEd!!) Grabbing a paper-towel I knelt down to rescue the frog, which didn't move as I scooped it up! I realized to my horror that it was DEAD!!!!!!!!
EWWWW is right!!!!

What can we get into next?!?

Who knew sticky tabs could be so fun!?

Emily and I were cooking up some half-edible supper and realized that we hadn't heard a whine from the boys in a few minutes! Looked around the corner and...!

Tortilla Chips and Mardi Gras Beads

Everyone asks me "How do you do it with TWO?!?!" The answer I usually give is that I don't know any different...! And it isn't like I can just decide NOT to do it. AND I love it. Plain and simple.

This is what I do ALL day!

And this isn't even MY house!

*Sigh* Life's tough! *Said in a self-pitying, pathetic voice*

Sleepy Heads

Last night my boys and I stayed at Mom and Dad's. Shane had to get up at 9pm for work today! They were driving 3 hours to Arkansas for his job, and he has to drive the finish truck which has to be on the job site at least an hour earlier than everyone else!

This is the best part of my day, waking up to rested kiddos who have stinky morning breath and smiles on their faces. All they wanna do is cuddle :)

Mmm! Batteries!

Late Night Movie watching with Aunt "Whee"and Aunt "Emma"

Dancing In the Rain

A sudden downpour inspired Uncle Evan and Aunt "Emma" to take Seth and Sean out for some twirling and puddle-jumping!

As I sit on the computer, watching my sister Emily literally doing flips in the living room of my parents house in order to entertain my children, I ask myself, "What makes a Mommy?"
Is it just the blood relation, is it the act of delivering a child out of your body? I have to say no, of course, there are so many other things that factor into making someone a mother.
I myself have a wonderful one, I'd love to say she's perfect, if not to make her feel special, then to at least spare myself her wrath. But as the quote says "There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a millions ways to be a good one."
We all try our best, and when it comes down to it, putting our children's best interests ahead of our own selfishness comes pretty close to being "Mother of the Year." Now if only they gave out trophies...!
